What is it about: It’s about a home grown hitman, who grows up to be most wanted international criminal. What happens during this journey forms the crux of the story directed by Adhik Ravichandran.
Why it’s disappointing: This movie had major expectations for two reasons, once the obvious being STR and then Adhik directing STR. Adhik who is now two movies old, inflicted a style with his first outing. Which drew mixed reactions from the audiences, but TIN was a massive hit. This time, he tried infusing something close to TIN in terms of adult comedy, but this time it wasn’t fun at all and at places it was quite offending to women. Especially in one scene where a veteran actor like Vijaykumar passes a lewd comment on marriage comparing to hookers.
The writing was so sloppy, that 20 minutes in to the film, you’ll start to yawn. Apparently this is a TWO part film, wonder if the makers would really make a 2nd part for this film. The comedy was very forceful and hardly works. The laughs it draws from the audience is nothing but sarcastic ones.
Silambarasan, the grapevine is that he’s not interested in acting anymore. That pretty much reflects on the screen. He seems reluctant in performing, you can hardly see any effort from the actor.
The leading ladies of the film were just used for the glam quotient, and the hideous start of the film with Kasthuri in that awful wig was sad. So were the looks of VTV Ganesh, Rajendran and the entire cast who were shown in the flashback.
You keep looking for something good to come out of it but it doesn’t even the second half lets you down. The songs were very average for an album by Yuvan Shankar Raja. When the film is this bad, no one cares about how the cinematography was and how well it was edited.
What to watch out for: Except for that once sequence of “Thalli Pogathey” comical reconstruction performed by Mottai Rajendran and Kovai Sarala, nothing was good.
Verdict: Adhik Ravichandran, did a disastrous job in making this one. None of the aspects worked and it backfired in the most terrible way. Definitely not worth a watch, you can surely give this one a miss.
