What is it about: It’s a side tracked love story which involves two childhood friends, what happens in their life and how they make it adventurous forms the crux of the story directed by Akshay Roy.
Why it’s disappointing: This can stay put for this film.
What to watch out for: MPB makes sure that the audience don’t get entertainment lagged, because it has right amount of ingredients which was well carried and narrated by the director Akshay Roy. He did a great job in spinning a clichéd story with a quirky twist, which makes MPB stand out from the crowd. One may say it doesn’t carry emotions, because you get to see the FRIENDZONE in block letters but that’s where the beauty lies. It was beautifully manipulated and presented with great humour and romance which had an interesting flavour.
The lead cast were definitely the strong suit of the film. Ayushmann did a great job in playing the role of Abhi/Bubla. He fit the bill aptly like it was tailor made for him.
Parineeti Chopra, who was MIA for a while can definitely say it’s a great film to revive her appearance. She knows how to pull off a role with élan, she brings in a great amount energy as Bindu and plays it great diligence. She’s got a peculiar beauty which captivates the audience and at the same time she can exuberate great maturity.
The cinematography by Tushar Kanti Ray was delectable, and the edit was crisp by Shweta Venkat Mathew.
The music was a high point in the film, which worked wonders involving many tunes borrowed from the yesteryear films. Sachin-Jigar did a fine job in recreating the magic and keeping the essence intact.
Verdict: Akshay Roy, did a fine job in scripting a love story which may seem clichéd but he packages it well with great flavour of comedy, romance and emotions. Definitely worth a watch, don’t miss it.
