What is it about: This film serves as a sequel to the 2008 Rock On, Directed by Abhishek Kapoor. It picks post their success, where the band has split and have moved on with their lives finding their inner self and peace. What happens during these journey forms the crux of the story directed by Shujaat Saudagar.

Why it’s disappointing: When the announcement was made about the sequel, every fan was eager to catch this one, as that was the effect the first film left on everyone. The teaser was good, but the trailer didn’t live up to the teaser and slightly let down the hopes. And to your surprise you are let down in the film. The film doesn’t do much with music and drifts in to the personal lives of the characters with too much drama. The dialogues were quite sloppy was wondering, is there something wrong with Farhan Akhtar. At no point you feel the connection with the film.

Shraddha Kapoor, off lately have been choosing scripts which are not complimenting her talent. And a sudden dive in to singing was not that great in Rock On 2.

Purab Kohli tried his best to keep the humour but was not able to sustain the amusement and it sounded pretty outdated.

Arjun Rampal, looked quite old in this film. Wonder if the makers wanted it on purpose. His character was way too underplayed.

Farhan Akhtar in spite of an honest attempt making it a good one, was not able to hold the audience throughout the film. The performance was meagerly matching to his potential.

The film’s cinematography was jittery, Marc Koninckx work was disappointing in most of the scenes, and there was an obvious quality drop.

What to watch out for: The film had little to offer in terms of entertainment. Shashank Arora was good and one who will be a good character artist in coming days.

Then obviously the music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy was    good, may be not as good as the predecessor, and still manages to keep the audience happy. Songs looked good with the visuals rather it sounded on album.

Verdict: Shujaat Saudagar, unfortunately was not able to recreate the magic. In spite of a great ensemble of cast, they couldn’t take this forward. With heavy heart have to say, that this sequel is not worth a watch.
