What is it about: It’s an official remake of the 2013 Tamil film “Kalyana Samyal Saadham”. It has a comical take on erectile dysfunction directed by RS Prasanna.
Why it’s disappointing: This can rest for the film.
What to watch out for: In spite of being a remake, this one has its own ethnicity to lure the target audience. A totally serious issue of one’s own manhood was comically presented. And at no point it goes overboard or makes you uncomfortable. It moves at a great pace and at the same time follows the rule book keeping a balance. The director knew very well what he’s getting at and made sure that he attracts major laughs from the audience. It was an icebreaker in Tamil cinema, when it came out. But to Bollywood it was another film, as they’ve seen subjects of this sort a lot. Still this one manages to impress the audience with its wittiness.
Ayushmann once again delivers a commendable one and Bhumi Pednekar is climbing the ladder briskly, she’ll be one of the best in the industry soon.
And there was the supporting cast, which was beautifully chosen as everyone was brilliant. And among them Brijendra Kala, Seema Bhargava and Shubhankar Tripathi stood out and so did Anshul Chauhan as Bhumi’s friend, she did a good job.
The cinematography by Anuj Rakesh Dhawan was delectable and was crisply edited by Ninad Khanolkar. Music by Tanishk-Vayu was a good one.
Verdict: RS Prasanna, did really stand out with the Tamil version among the lot and with this Bollywood remake, he opened doors to a good career in that industry as well. He was on spot with the subject and gave a hilarious one. Definitely worth a watch, quite a stress buster.
