‘Mellisai’ Songs Review: This album lives up to its title with impressive voices!!!

Review: Earlier this week this album was released in a grandeur form at the most preferable venue for audio launches these days i.e. Sathyam Cinemas. Which saw whose and who of the industry present to extend their support for the movie’s album. Mellisai is directed by Ranjit Jeyakodi and the music is composed by Sam CS who is debuting with this album in the industry.

Lately we have many music composers debuting, with such a huge competition how one could make their work stand out? The answer would be a fresh sound which captures you as you listen to it. Sam CS has done a fantastic job and compiling an album, which we can call a commercial hit. When it comes to the songs there were 2 songs played at the launch “Mazhaikkulle” sung by Haricharan-Shreya Goshal, and “Vellai Kanavu” sung by Hariharan-Harini. Both these were visually appealing and were sweet to hear even though they seemed quite repeated still manages to get your attention.

Whereas there are other songs in the album which has more potential to it, than the ones featured during the launch. For instance “Parakkiren Naan” which is sung by Srinivas and Maria Kavita Thomas, what makes this one stand out is the voice of Maria Kavita Thomas, she’s got this peculiar husky voice which is very appealing. There’s an English version of the same track called “Take Me Higher” which is beautifully sung by her along with Suchit & J.K. Another one is her version of track “Lola”, as the same track has another version which is sung by Andrea Jermiah, but my favourite is Maria Kavita Thomas’s version.

The theme of Mellisai by Chennai Orchestra is a good one, which during the launch, music director mentioned that it was recorded live with an orchestra. On the whole the album of “Mellisai” is a good packaged deal of soothing tracks with appealing voices.
