What is it about: It’s a story about a fish, which is stupendously called as “Vaastu Fish”, and how its disappearance from its owner Vanjaram (Mime Gopi) forms the crux of the story directed by Mani Seiyon.
Why it’s disappointing: You can definitely pin point quite a few logical loop holes in this film. But those can be ignored, as the story was treated with importance.
What to watch out for: Sometimes when you walk in to the Cinema with no expectations, and you’re taken off guard by a good movie. That was the case with this film, it was quite fresh and was finely handled by the director Mani Seiyon. How he spun a story around a fish, and pitted actors along with was a neat task. The film had decent comedy, which was timed well and performed with great diligence.
The actors in the film were good. Surprisingly Sibi Raj, gave a commendable performance, which was missing from him for a long time. Then it was Aishwarya Rajesh, who was an apt choice and performed it with ease and élan. Then there was Mime Gopi, who was seen in a larger than life role and did it with grace. And finally Kaali Venkat, who kicked in genuine laughs.
The cinematography by Anand Jeeva was perfect and was crisply edited by Sathish Suriya. The music by Santhosh Dhayanidhi was mellow, and did not interfere with the screenplay.
Verdict: Mani Seiyon, did a fine job in bringing something new to the Tamil audience, which was quite refreshing. And that was perfectly infused with comedy, which was neatly written. Definitely worth a watch.
