What is it about: Former special force operative turned mercenary get subjected in to a rogue experiment in the presence of curing cancer. That leaves him with accelerated healing powers which takes the form of Deadpool as alter ego. Directed by Tim Miller with Ryan Reynolds playing the title role.
Why it’s disappointing: It’s not gravely disappointing, but in few parts could have engaged the audience a little bit more with the action and drama. Other than that, it keeps you laughing hard.
What to watch out for: Ryan Reynolds is no newbie for an action hero, if you remember he was the “Green Lantern” from DC Comics. And also we have seen different version of “Deadpool” in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”. This here have been revised and a pecked up version of super hero, who is high on wit with exceptional speed. Ryan Reynolds takes the character to a different level with the unstoppable mouth which doesn’t have an “off” switch. He was great as Deadpool.
Director Tim Miller did a great job in establishing the character cinematic wise, as I’m not a comic enthuse so can’t say how genuine it was to the comics. But when it came to filmmaking he did the best to make this hero look larger than life with slick nuances.
The film’s photography was great, in Hollywood they really know to handle their lenses with great panache. Ken Seng did an exceptional job in capturing the superheroes. Which was sharply cut by Julian Clarke. The VFX is something which we can’t complain, come on guys it’s a MARVEL product. All this was tastefully enveloped with a gripping score by mighty Junkie XL a.k.a Tom Holkenborg.
The film had a great cast, which went well the witty Deadpool. For starters Stefan Kapičić (Peter Rasputin / Colossus) he brings a sweet humour and have a soft side which is the opposite of his appearance. Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, suited the attire well. Ed Skrein as Francis Freeman / Ajax was a typical villain, did what was required. Gina Carano as Angel Dust no dialogues but hard hitting. Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle who played Wade’s girlfriend, was a sweet pea to which your heart will skip a beat, a goddess inked with hot tattoos, she did a commendable job.
The film has a humour, which will kick you at the right note with well-timed dialogues. This sync makes you forget the few potholes in the movie. With limited characters “Deadpool” got established for its upcoming sequels, the best part was Deadpool trolling other “X-Men” characters.
Verdict: Tim Miller gave a good start for “Deadpool” to proceed further, laying a decent foundation, which could build up to another demanding franchise from the stable of MARVEL. Definitely worth a watch, and do not miss the post credit scene, trust me you’ll enjoy it.
