What is it about: It’s an animated musical comedy, where a Koala-Buster Moon(Mathew McConaughey) a theatre owner tries hard to revive the fame, which is currently facing a financial crunch, and the hurdles he faces during those forms the crux of the story directed by Garth Jennings.
Why it’s disappointing: This could stay put for this movie.
What to watch out for: Animation movies have the liberty to go beyond the limitations which the live action movies face. And when that is perfectly executed becomes a delight to the audience. “Sing” here makes a great impression on Music, which has almost 85 and more classic songs sung by famous artists featuring various covers. Which makes it a double treat for the music lovers. Director Garth, did a very fine job in infusing the music with talking animal creatures with passion for the art. The film has a simple and straight forward plot, which doesn’t deflect at any point and keeps marching at a brisk note.
The animation was seamless, and the 3D was tastefully rendered creating a perfect depth. So did was the sound which complimented the visuals. The VFX artists requires a special mention as they kept the tiniest details to its best. And when you animate the real life happenings, it’s fun to watch. As few can’t be done in real life, but we would love to venture them.
The characters were well backed with voices from leading Hollywood actors, making this more viable and fun. My personal favourite was “Meena – Teenage Indian Elephant” voiced by the stupendous Tori Kelly. And then of course Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon. Followed by Reese Witherspoon as Rosita one of the cutest and most definitely Scarlett Johansson as Ash. All their voices suited perfectly the respective characters. Oh yeah, how can you forget the mean and tiny mouse Seth MacFarlane as Mike, he was one mean crooning mouse.
Verdict: Garth Jennings gave a beautiful and sweet film at the end of the year, which is soulfully funny. Being a partial musical, this makes a strong impression as a musical with great voices and amazing talents. A fun-filled family outing. Catch this at a well-equipped Cinema to experience the talents in full form, don’t miss it.
