What is it about: It’s a biographical war comedy film which is based on the article from Rolling Stone named “Arms and the Dudes”. The film follows two arms dealers who supply weapons to US Govt. in Afghanistan. The film is directed by Todd Phillips.
Why it’s disappointing: This could stay put for this movie.
What to watch out for: Todd Phillips have been giving us films in past which have worked as great stress busters. And this one does the job too, but this time an added flavour of reality was included. The film takes the liberty of dramatizing few events from the original and have added few fictional sequences, which doesn’t disturb the screenplay and travels at a great pace.
The comedy element was perfectly infused in a film which spells biography. And it was tastefully performed by Jonah Hill and Miles Teller. They compete with each other and at the end you will see Jonah Hill getting the favourite card. His performance was meticulously etched with great humour and attitude which cracks you up instantly. He fit the attire as if it was meant for him. Then its Miles Teller, who with his boyish charm balances a great performance infused with humour.
The cinematography was great by Lawrence Sher, and was well supported by Jeff Groth’s editing. The VFX and SFX was perfectly in sync with this film, making it technically strong.
There are many sequences in the film, which you will quote with dialogues as your favourite. The writing was witty and had a great flair for entertainment. Todd quotes a dialogue before a scene, which turns out be a vital one in the upcoming scene. That approach was something new and interesting.
And how can we forget the cameo by Bradley Cooper, who did a commendable one. And with his presence felt on screen, the audience went crazy.
Verdict: Todd Phillips does it again, and delivers a film which relieves you from your worries with a content which makes you laugh hard. Also presents a factual truth of the country’s darker side on arms deal. Definitely worth a watch for its lead cast humorous performance and strong writing.
