Genre: Comedy, Romance
Rating: ∗∗½

What is it about: It’s a story about two friends who come up with an idea to create a platform for the young couples, who decide to get married eloping from their homes. How this pans out forms the crux of the story directed by Amit Roy.

Why it’s disappointing: This film has the needs of the comedy required for the genre, but doesn’t holds up to the laughs it was supposed to. At few points it gets quite tedious and feels a drag. If at all the comedy element was played at right note, this would have turned in to a laugh riot. But still it manages to makes its way through due to a good choice of lead cast.

What to watch out for: Running Shaadi had a strong central cast, which made this film plausible. Taapsee Pannu was apt and did a great job as Nimmi, the attitude was spot on. Amit Sadh played the innocence to best and gave a good performance. Then there was Arsh Bajwa as Cyberjeet, who was great with his wit and did a great job in tickling your funny bone.

The supporting cast in various characters were really great, who fit their respective characters very well.

The film had a decent cinematography by Anas Ali Khan, can’t expect more from this film. And the editing by Nipun Gupta was decent. The Music was quite average by various artists.

Verdict: Amit Roy, manages to kick in few genuine laughs. If at all pondered more on making it darker or wittier in the genre of comedy, this would have made wonders for him. Still worth a watch, for the comedy it contains.
