What is it about: It’s a social thriller which revolves around a bunch of reporters who are in a pursuit to uncover a huge scandal, what happens during this forms the crux of the story directed by K.V.Anand.
Why it’s disappointing: I have no qualms about this film.
What to watch out for: This film doesn’t dull out at any point. It runs for a long runtime of 2Hrs 45Mins, but you don’t feel the travel as director KV Anand keeps you engaged through out. The story covers pretty much all the current affairs happening around at the moment. And that was meticulously executed and presented in the best commercial manner they could. It had all the elements required for a commercial pot boiler. I agree there are few pot holes, but for a commercial entertainer it did really good.
The film had a great lead Vijay Sethupathi, who made the film all the more interesting with his exceptional performance and amazing comic timing. He carried the role with great style and diligence. Someone else in his place wouldn’t have fetched this result.
Madonna Sebastian is an actress from whom, the seasoned Kollywood actresses can learn one or two about acting. She can act, emote and perform with no difficulty and can look a natural.
Vikranth Santhosh, is one underrated actor from Kollywood, despite his continuous effort he doesn’t get appreciated. He did a commendable job.
Pandiarajan, Kiran, Akashdeep, Jagan and Nasser did their respective supporting roles well.
The trump card of this film was T.Rajendran, who was spectacular in his comeback. Audience enjoyed every bit of his performance, he may be trolled by many. But he’s an actor who can engage audience with is peculiar antics.
The cinematography by Abinandhan Ramanujam was good and the cuts by Anthony were sharp. The music by Hiphop Tamizha was very average.
Verdict: KV Anand, made a fine social thriller. Which has all the requisite elements of a commercial potboiler. And that was crowned with good performers laced with strong dialogues attracting huge applause from the audience. Definitely worth a watch.
