What is it about: It’s about an IT professional Dinesh (Vijay Antony) who starts to get delusional and hallucinates a lot, what happens post that forms the crux of the story directed by Pradeep Krishnamoorthy.
Why it’s disappointing: The first look was impressive, the trailer was good and the promotional opening sequence on You Tube created a great anticipation for the film. But all that dies out once you watch this film. The film was a big let-down, it poses to be a supernatural thriller on re-birth. But forgets what it was all about, and starts to fall apart.
You somehow try to console yourself saying that first half was fine, may be the director has something to surprise us in the second half. But the second half was even more disastrous. The screenplay goes haywire, it gets lost and doesn’t have a direction or a path, which it intended to start in first place.
Vijay Antony is slowly getting comfy with the acting attire, he had tried his best in this film, but still needs little nudge to get there. But the hard work went in vain with a weak screenplay and the director didn’t do justice to the content.
The film runs at a serious note throughout, still wonder why the comic element was forced in the climax with lame dialogues. And to top that a mass action sequence in the end, may be the Kollywood bug has bitten Vijay Antony as well.
What to watch out for: There are a handful of positives in the film, and Arundathi Nair tops the list. She did a great job and very commendable one. Then it was the cinematography by Pradeep which was crisply edited by Veera. That was well complimented by a well rendered VFX. Apart from these there was nothing great to boast of Saithan.
Verdict: Pradeep Krishnamoorthy started with an honest notion in making a supernatural thriller which goes hay wire with no direction and a weak screenplay. Unfortunately have to say that this is not worth a watch.
