What is it about: It’s about the character “Kaira” played by Alia Bhatt. Who is seen doing soul searching and how she tackles the issues in her life forms the crux of the story directed by Gauri Shinde.
Why it’s disappointing: This can stay put for this film.
What to watch out for: You can’t find one soul on this planet who doesn’t have issues in life, and how do we deal them differentiates us from each other. Few run away from it, few run towards it, few hide them and few permanently bury them deep in their heart. Gauri Shinde as a director ponders on such issues related to the character “Kaira”. And the way she puts it forward in simple metaphors becomes a beauty of its own. For instance playing Kabbadi with waves at the shore, or point out props from our day to day lives. It was beautifully etched and narrated by Gauri Shinde.
Then it’s the star of the film Alia Bhatt, she most definitely made sure it’s heard in loud voice that she’s here to stay for long during the span of her career. She was amazing and did a great job. As Kaira she literally lived the character. If you see her in one scene, she presents her sorrows with so much diligence that leaves a huge lump in your throat. An amazing performer who makes you fall in love with her.
Sharukh Khan, when was the last time you must have seen him in a role which is this chilled out? Can’t really guess right, in this film as Jehangir Khan he played the role with great poise and was extremely composed. His portrayal of this character makes you fall in love with the name SRK once again.
Then it was the list of cameos by Angad Bedi, Ali Zafar and Kunal Kapoor. Who were perfectly placed in respective characters and was performed well by them.
There were 2 more characters who made this film more loveable, and those were played by Ira Dubey and Yashaswini Dayama. Especially Yashaswini was adorable as Jackie, and Ira was perfect as Fatima.
The cinematography by Laxman Utekar was beautiful, which runs deep in to the film. He brings the characters up close to the audience and make them relatable. That was smoothly edited by Hemanti Sarkar.
The music by Amit Trivedi was soothing and melodious, which didn’t create bumps in the story. It was well infused in to the film making it a pleasant experience.
Verdict: Gauri Shinde, once again presents us with a feel good film, which makes you laugh and cry. And that was perfectly decorated with a commendable cast performing their best. Definitely worth a watch, don’t miss it.
