What is it about: A coincidental meeting of Alizeh (Anushka Sharma) and Ayan (Ranbir Kapoor) at a party one night drifts in to a relationship which both had no plans of, what happens next in their new found encounter forms the crux of the story directed by Karan Johar.
Why it’s disappointing: One can find many reasons to hate this, cliché was a great favourite of this flick. The film mostly dwells on the characters performance and it was dragged a bit more than required, if at all kept a little trimmed would have been a great one. Other than that I didn’t find anything that bad, which would make you say, it’s a total “Bakwaas”.
What to watch out for: The two central characters of the film were a strong suit of the film, who made the painful journey a smooth one.
Anushka did a great job, she was spot on with her performance. She brought a great aura to the character of Alizeh and makes you fall for her. The best part is, she can do this effortless with great diligence.
Ranbir Kapoor, was a great hit with this one. His kiddish antics makes you laugh hard. The character was perfectly etched which grows up as the film marches forward. A commendable performance by the current Showman of the Millennium.
Anushka & Ranbir’s chemistry was the best, whether it’s friendship or love.
Aishwarya Rai, what can I say about this lady. Her first appearance on screen makes you go nuts, she’s one of them who can make a strong comeback regardless for the period they were on break. The way she carried the character Saba was delectable.
Fawad had a small stint, but one which makes a formidable dent in the lead characters life. And he played it with great poise.
The film had an amazing cinematographer Anil Mehta, who captured the streets of London beautifully and placed the characters in their profound beauty. And that was perfectly edited by Manik Dawar.
Definitely the music played a huge role in this film, which was soothingly composed by Pritam, who seems to be back in form after ages.
Verdict: Karan Johar is a director, who knows how to play around with relationships. And he mostly does that with a mature front, which may be criticized by many. But also loved by millions. In ADHM, there are several moments which may become your favourite. And there is one point in the film, where he puts three characters in the most awkward moment, I really loved that scene’s intensity. Definitely worth a watch, beautiful actors pelting out great performances which was held well by KJo once again.
